Satire and Satin

Hi Tumblr! I’m sorry I haven’t updated at all lately. School/work/life has been insane lately. But there hasn’t been a whole lot to write about.

I’m coming to the realization that I’m a grown up and that I’ll be entering the “real world” in about a year. Wow. Terrifying. I’m taking some of the most difficult classes this semester, and I’m so afraid of failing! Mostly because I REALLY need to graduate on time. Ugh. Boo school.

This is my first week back to school since spring break. The original plan was to go to Padre with a bunch of my friends. Unfortunately that fell through, otherwise I’d have a whole bunch of crazy, drunken stories to share with you. Instead, I went with my boyfriend to visit a friend in California. We drove because it was cheaper than flying. But it was still a 27 hour drive. It was pretty awful, but I got to see some amazing sights along the way. Plus, spending a few days with my friend was great. Oh, and that whole being in California thing was nice too.

I’ll try to update more often, Tumblr. For now, ask me anything!!

Winter break was a great time for me. I got to see a lot of friends from back home, we went out together, and just catch up. But it was great to get back to my favorite college town and see all my other friends. I have a pretty consistent group I hang out with, and I missed them a lot over break. Luckily, we’ve gotten to see each other a lot.

So the guy I’ve been dating is a musician. He sings and plays guitar in his band. And for the whole month of February (plus a little into March) he’s in Chicago recording his band’s first album. And I am so happy for him. But I miss him, a lot more than I thought I would. That’s good though, right? He’s only been gone for a week, and it sucks already. Plus, no Valentine this year :( once again.

Well hi there Tumblr! So nice to see you again! It’s been a while. I’ve been pretty awful at posting lately, and since I’ll be back in class tomorrow morning, I figured what better way to waste time than to post on Tumblr.

I had an awesome winter break and I’m extremely sad that I’ll be going back to class tomorrow, but on the bright side that means there’s only four months until my birthday (and the end of school!). So, in my last update, I talked about having a date with a guy I met. It was so much fun and he’s a super nice guy. And now…we’re kind of dating. It’s weird, things moved really fast emotionally but not at all physically (which is a good thing for me), and I’m not really used to that since I usually date complete douche bags. So I’m quite happy as of right now, but at the same time getting a little…frustrated. After all, I am 20. Come on.

Next post, I will update you all on my drunken winter break shenanigans.

Merry Christmas everyone! Or, happy 5th night of Hanukkah! Well, tonight will be anyway. Happy holidays to you other people, religious or not. I am home and with my family, out of my college town and away from bars, but not the alcohol because I’m fairly certain my family couldn’t stand one another without it! I hope everyone that is on break from school is relaxing and not worried about grades or going back (I haven’t even checked my grades!). Take a few deep breaths, have a drink or two, and enjoy the rest of December!

Guess what Tumblr, I have a date on Monday. Yes! A real, legitimate date! Granted, it’s a guy I met at a shitty bar, and he’s like 4 years older than I am, but it’s still a date. I haven’t been on a date in 2 years, and the last one was with a boyfriend who dropped me off at my place afterwards, then promptly went to another girls house and cheated on me. Woot! So a date is exciting! I’ll update you all about it afterwards!

You know what are fun? Christmas parties. Dressing up either really nice winter formal like or wearing the most ridiculous holiday sweater you can find. I got the opportunity to go to both kinds this past weekend. An ugly sweater/white elephant party was Friday, then the Yule Ball (clever, right?) was Saturday night. It was all sorts of drunken, holiday fun both nights. Though Friday when I got home was a bit of a downer. Want to know why? No, you don’t, but I’m going to tell you anyway.

Friday I had been talking to a good friend throughout the day. He and I used to date way back in March, but ended things pretty well. And by that, I mean he told me his feelings changed. But we did stay friends. And I will admit that I still have a bit of a crush on him. Are 20 year olds allowed to have crushed still? Regardless, I like him, and all night he was talking to me about a girl he likes that he just didn’t have the balls to tell. Secretly I hoped it was me, but then he said that he had hung out with her all night. Now I know what guys talk about when they say they’ve been shunned to the “friend zone”. I didn’t even know girls could be friend zoned. Oh well, I’ll just be single forever!

It is such a good feeling to be done for the semester, even if I did do terribly on my one and only final. I feel like a slacker, but that’s okay. Life goes on.

So today will be a day of baking Christmas cookies, going to an ugly sweater/white elephant party, and getting white girl wasted. Have a good day everyone!

My audition for the Germany trip was terrible. Oh well.

So, tumblr readers, I’m curious for your opinion. Or not. Really, this just pisses me off. Recently two different guys I know have been complaining (to me, via twitter via facebook) that no girls ever like the “nice guys” and that they are nice guys and that girls just always look the other way and want nothing to do with them. I think about what they are saying…then realize that I tried to date both of them. What the hell? They went with it for a while, like a month or so, and then decided to be “nice guys” and start ignoring me.

Cool. I shall be alone forever. With lots of cats. The end.

I had my studio recital this morning. My solo went okay, but I think it could have gone better. But, my professor also signed me up for an audition this afternoon where I can travel with the university’s symphony orchestra to Eutin, Germany, all expenses paid for 9 weeks this coming summer! How awesome would that be?! Saxophones don’t usually play in the orchestra, and they’re only taking two, but I believe I am one of three or four saxophonists to audition, so my chances are pretty good! Send good vibes my way! I’ve got one hour until I go. So excited. Being a music major can be so rewarding sometimes!

And then to bring down my mood, I have to work after my audition.
